It's real. Mugabe has done much more absurd and evil things in the past. I'm just surprised that no one has assassinated him yet. Maybe we can sprinkle some oil on him and release the Americans. The US has murdered for a lot, lot less.

To visit a friend of mine once I had to hitchhike to Harare via Zambia, walk past the presidential palace, and then hitch to his school. Every person, especially every white person, passing by the palace (on a main road) had to run the gauntlet of Mugabe's guards, who would point their semi-automatics at you as you pass by. Mugabe was well protected and had more support from his old soldiers and so forth, who had been granted some of the white farmers' land. The fact that he overthrew the white racist government did not, of course, justify his devastating the country over the next 35+ years, but it does account for some of his staying power. He should have been overthrown with American support long ago and a democratic government given a chance with debt forgiveness.

Why is it america's responsibility to do this? The less of this type of thing Ameruca is involved in, the better.
