Starting a crash course 7-week training program for a half marathon. Modifying an old Hal Higdon program which is essentially one long run and one speed workout per week plus easy and medium training runs.
For the speed work he alternates a tempo run with intervals, but all of the recommended interval sessions are 400m reps @ 5k race pace. Why so short? Wouldn't it make more sense to run longer, 800m-1k @ 10k pace maybe?
