Clearly this person's not running to break 2:30, so the 70mile/wk thing is just another typical elitist letsrun veteran response. Since I'm not too keen on Marathoning, I'm just gonna pull a couple charts from Daniels' Distance Formula.
2 Weeks out: Two quality workouts and the rest of week are easy days or days off from running;
1: 2miles jog, then 3 x 2miles (or 2 x 3miles) at Tempo pace with 2min. jog recoveries + 10 miles
2: 2miles jog, then 3 x 2miles at Tempo pace with 2min. jog recoveries + 2 miles
Alternative Workout (replace one of these with this that week): 4 miles jog, then 1 mile at Tempo, 2 miles at Marathon pace, 1mile jog, 1 mile at Tempo, 2 miles at Marathon pace and 2miles jog
Last Week
7 days 90mins. jogging
6 days 60mins. jog
5 days: 2miles jog then 4 x 0.75miles at Tempo pace with 2min jog recoveries and 2miles jog
4 days 50min jog
3 days: 30-40min
2 days 0-20min jog
1 day 20-30min jog; tomorrow is the marathon.
I hope this has helped in anyway. If in doubt, do what your instincts and knowledge says. If unsure of what workout to do stick with the easier one (especially two weeks from a Marathon). THanks for reading and I hope this has helped.
