Any real suggestions on getting motivation back to run/workout?

Don't bother trying, unless there's a club you can join, you don't have the willpower to do it individually and nothing will change that. You'll have better luck and more enjoyment hitting the weight room and maybe jogging 10 mpw for the health benefits.

Agree with this except the part about a club. Either you want to run or you don't. If you want it, you'll do it. You'll know someday you'll be floating through runs at 6:30 pace. That's when running is fun for me. But you have to work for it. Running at 8:00min/mile first few years wasn't as fun to be honest.

Sign up for the most local 5k or 10k or maybe half marathon if you are naturally ok at running for a long time.

That will motivate you. Buy a new pair of running shoes, get a gps watch, run routes where other people run.

If that doesn't work then you might be clinically depressed.

I am currently going through something similar right now. I kind of overdid my running and as a result my motivation dropped to zero and I stopped running completely for two weeks.

What I did was start back doing short distances at a slow pace. I am making sure at the end of each run I always have the feeling that I want to run more. While I no longer have any motivation to do 20 mile runs, I am now looking forward to my short distance runs.

Deep into training I get drained and procrastinate. Sometimes I'll shift into caffeine mode and consume drinks earlier in the day to energize. But one thing that has helped me immensely is a starchy pre-run snack.

If I eat one warm potato pancake plus a half pint of milk I feel initialized. Works for me anyway.

A different snack is not going to convert a couch potato into a fit runner, sorry.

Second a running/track club. Since I was paying for the club I felt compelled to go and work hard. I made a couple of good friends there in my same ability group so that added a bit of friendly rivalry and competitiveness. They also hold me accountable to stick to my program... if I missed a workout or dog my long run (we followed each other on Strava) I can expect a few text messages that night.

Thank said, sub 15 is a lofty goal and is probably going to take a lot of self motivation.
