I scored the olympic track and field meet as if it were a scored championship meet. Places 1-8 earning 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 point respectively. I thought it was interesting to see where various nations placed and how they did so.
Four nations finished top 5 on both the mens and womens side, but got there in distinctly different ways.
USA- All around talent and depth - men lead by jumps/distance, women by the hurdles/sprints
Kenya - mostly distance
Jamaica - Sprint and hurdles
Great Britain - a pretty good balance
