This is true the mizuno wave universe 6, so thin perhaps too thin. Their main trainers are too heavy though. I think it was Arthur Lydiard who told me to stay away from trainers with too much plastic in them.
Mizuno's trainers tend toward the cushioned side of things. I think the plate is actually not that heavy but it provides the company's "house feel" of some stiffness. Personally I like the plate feel and some cushion for long runs, although these days I'm becoming more partial to Brooks for that purpose -- its trainers have much better overall fit and feel than recent offerings from Mizuno. However, they're even heavier. I switched from Wave Rider 19 to Ghost 9 and it's an extra ounce per shoe.
Aside from Hoka, does any company make cushioned trainers that aren't super heavy as compared with flats? I tried a couple of Hokas at the running store and thought they were extremely clunky.
