Recovery probably. More RBC's=More O2 delivery to the muscles=Quicker recovery in workouts and between workouts=More workouts you can do=Better performances.

Anyone want to tell me what EPO does for a sprinter?
http://www.sportsintegrityinitiative.com/masrahi-receives-four-year-ban-following-epo-positive/
yup. Its probably part of a cocktail of drugs, many of which do help sprinters a lot. The only person who can't explain why athletes cheat is Jon Orange.
And who is his coach?
John Smith.
Yes, the same John Smith who coached Maurice Greene and who coaches English Gardner.
The same John Smith who Salazar sends his athletes to so that they can "work on form."
The same John Smith who is paid by Nike.
43.93 in a heat in Beijingm last year. Absolutely nothing suspicious about that.

Probably to do more training reps etc.
Studies have shown aerobic conditioning helps 400m runners as well.
Leaks (and Trevor Graham) have claimed Mo Greene was using EPO in the late 90s, so it may enhance muscle building.

Have you ever run the 400 - in a real race? Even a few "extra steps" before the lactate brings you down can make a big difference. And with EPO helping you process more oxygen...

Good article...
Well the drugs he's using on Gardner has been a bit of a waste, no? He should try using some on her mind instead. She's certainly shaping up to be the mail version of Asafa Powell.

Absolutely, positively guaranteed to get there after you thought it would.
The CIA supports the fascist Saudi Royal Family dictatorship. And you thought the English Windsor family was a joke ;-)
Why do NOPers microdose testosterone?
Even the 100 is an endurance event.

Recovery.
Epo is fantastic for recovery. Amazing.
I wonder why they are picking this one out if the herd.
Every athlete benefits from increased oxygen uptake. It has nothing to do with a certain distance where it becomes a factor.
Surprised you are asking this, Rojo. Are you a student of history?
EPO was part of the BALCO cocktail back in the days of Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery, and it is not hard to see why. The drug significantly boosts your ability to recover from/during hard sprint sessions.
Obviously these athletes aren't logging any kind of mileage, but it doesn't matter--when you're working hard, the blood needs oxygen. Period. EPO can definitely help with that.
bear in mind he was only caught for epo. would not be surprised if he was also microdosing test (but wasn't caught).
