"But Chand, who will race the 100-meter dash at the Olympics on Friday, said plenty of women don't fit neatly within that range, and that there's overlap between the sexes. Testifying on her behalf, Richard Holt, a UK-based endocrinologist, pointed to a study showing that 32 of 234 female athletes had natural testosterone levels above 2.7 nmol/L, including 11 athletes who had more than 8 nmol/L. In the study of athletes in South Korea, he added, four male athletes had testosterone levels below 3.08 nmol/L, and 198 men had testosterone below 10 nmol/L. This type of data suggests there's not necessarily a big gap between normal male and female ranges of the hormone, explained Dr. Katrina Karkazis, a bioethicist at Stanford University who also testified on Chand's behalf."

Why do incompetent people meddle into things they don't understand?
The average testosterone level of women is about 30 ng/dl (1 nmol/L). 230 ng/dL (8 nmol/L)+ is not normally possible. Such ladies would have to suffer from some hormonal disorder, or they use exogenous testosterone as a sort of doping. In any case, they would have to shave beards several times a week.
The average testosterone level of Caucasian men is about 550 ng/dl (19 nmol/L). 300 ng/dl (10,4 nmol/L) is the official limit of hypoandrogenicity (low testosterone).
Male testosterone levels below 3,08 nmol/L (87 ng/dL) are absolutely ridiculous. The guys would have to be castrated! And if a male athlete had testosterone levels below 10 nmol/L, he wouldn't be able to keep muscle mass. Such a dude could possibly be a chess-player or a golfer, but certainly not an athlete in the traditional sense. In my opinion, these values most likely indicate suppression caused by the chronic abuse of anabolic drugs.
