No of course WVN is not going to be able,to qualify for for the final.
However...if he did, he is still there at 2:16-17 @ 800m. When does he drop? He must drop because if not, he probably wins.

I think he would make the next 400m on the same pace. However, he would then fall apart the final 400 and actually slow down while the rest of the field kicks in really hard.
He gets murdered in the final 400
2:16 is still 4:32 mile pace (4:14 1500m).
Ashton Eaton has run 45.00 and actually trains to run the 1500m and he would have maxed out at that pace. I think Wayde dies immediately after the 800 mark.
Yeah he'd be laboring through the 800, then he'd get dropped before they hit 1200 in 3:12

Yurij Borzakovski ran the European Cup in the 1500 many years ago and they opened in 2,16. The commmentators thought this slow opening was perfect for Borza. After a fast 3rd lap, however, Borza was immediately dropped.
Just because WVN can run a 2:16 800 AND run a really fast 400 does not mean he can run them back-to-back.
Okay, but what if WVN didn't have to run the first 1100 meters? I totally bet he could have won the race then, cause OMG it was so slow. WVN could have won from a standing start in lane 8 if he didn't have to run the initial 1100. WVN ftw!
Actually, I think he could run a 2:16 800 and a really fast (47.X) 400 back to back. The problem is then he would have 300 to go...

Idiot. That was not the question.

Calm down dude, he was joking.
Obvious any 49 second high schooler could win the race if they don't have to run the first 1100m.
After coming through the 1000 in 2:46 he'd be breathing a bit hard and would be dusted over the final 500.
They would gap him right at the beginning of the final 400.
Rudisha would have won if a race played out like that.
