SW would have dropped Kipchoge for sure.
SW would have dropped Kipchoge for sure.
Tyson Gay of June 2008 would have won Rio 100m.
Me of 2007 would have won Rio 1500m.

No. Definitely not.
Sammy's OR stands the heat!
And the Yankees would probably be doing better this year if they had Roberto Clemente from the mid 1960s on their team.
What's your point?

You are too stupid to understand. Rupp got a medal in a WEAK field. Sammy would, have destroyed that piss poor field.
Ryan, you need to go back to sniffing Galen's jockstrap.

Screw the WR, I believe that was the finest marathon ever run and certainly the finest race at the olympics, maybe of all time.

1: Samuel Wanjiru, Kenya, 2:06:32
2: Jaouad Gharib, Morocco, 2:07:16
If you think Wanjiru's run was "worth" 2:02:56, you're saying that Jaouad Gharib was "worth" 2:03:40 (really even better because a positive split tends to exaggerate differences, as do harsh conditions). The world record at the time was 2:04:26.
Decide for yourself whether this makes any sense.

You have to give Gharib his due and realize he was a legit beast in championship races. I think his race in 2008 given the totality of conditions is superior to Kipchoge's Rio race and that's wht really matters here, right?

Maybe he would have got a case of the clap and would have been a scratch from the field....
I do agree that was a great race, better than Rio but we will never know how Kipchoge could have done with Wanjiru in the race.

Fair point. Can't argue with it. Would be one of those dream match ups with both of them in their prime.
You do know that Wanjuri is dead, right?

When did he pass? I always heard it was best to pass with authority. Was he pushed?
