I am about to go into yet another year of high school cross country, and I just ran a workout of 4 x mile repeats with splits of, 5:05, 4:59, 5:02, 5:00 which felt mildly controlled and not too hard. This is on the first mile of our cross country course which includes two sizable hills. Couple that with 60-70 miles a week all summer, it makes me excited and curious as to what kind of shape I am in for 5k this season and a little too anxious to wait for the first 5k of the season (Stanford Invite). What does everyone think?
