Interesting on the Chicago Marathon Official site, Stephen Sambu is listed as USA, Did He get citizenship? Hope so, it would make USA Marathoning stronger as even though it is his debut, I think he can be good. https://assets-chicagomarathon-com.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Elite-field_Men-Bios.pdf

A relatively impressive field, but it seems as though the depth of talent at Chicago isn't quite what it used to be. Have Berlin and New York lured away most of the top talent?
The field, which features 5 former Chicago champions, has just been released. You can read the press release here.

The full elite fields are listedb below. We've created our own table showing you each runner's PB as well as the best time they've put in the last 2 years so you can get a better feel for the contenders.

Berlin??? No. Berlin gets 1-2 studs every year but isn't deep.
Chicago doesn't seem to be what it was 10 years ago - which is the US's best marathon. I"m not sure if that's because under Mary W NY stepped it up big time or if it's cause Chicago is now spending less or a combination of the two.

Ah, thanks for the info. I didn't realize that.

Agreed... I figured it was a combination of the two. Mary and her crew deserve a great deal of credit, and scoring Molly Huddle's debut will definitely peak my interest!
Nice to see Tera Moody on there. Anyone know what she has been up to? I feel like I haven't seen her name in years.

She is still running, although she has encountered some injury setbacks in recent years. I was hoping that she would be in OT marathon back in February, but unfortunately not.
Chicago remains her favorite race!

Did Huddle really commit when Wittenberg was still there15 months ago?

No, certainly not. Those were meant to be two separate observations, but I can see how my wording could be easily misconstrued. My fault.
Chicago has struggled to find its identity since it stopped being the race to set world records. Boston has the legacy, New York and London have the depth of quality (NY has a tactically great course, London is very fast), and Berlin is of course WR HQ. Tokyo at least has the appeal of the Japanese. Chicago could aim in that direction, offerring itself up to more Americans, but is currently losing out to Twin Cities for US runners.

Serena Burla USA 2:28:01 2:31:06
Tera Moody USA 2:30:53 2:29:32
Serena Burla, yeah right... And Moody has a recent 2:29:32? No way gotta be a typo. Also Arciniaga should retire. The cycle is over & it's time for a lot of these never-gonna-happen people to move on. Nice not seeing Fernando Cabada's name in there. These minor leaguers are gonna hang on until 2020 and make it in their third trials? It'd be Moody's 4th trials! Naw not gonna happen. Cubicle's calling kids. Hang 'em up, get a job, start coaching, find a hobby -- whatever. Just stop showing up in the elite fields cuz it ain't happening.
No really if you're gonna keep going why not a smaller race? At least you'd have a legit shot at some prize dollars.

Tera's marathon PR was established several years ago, but she still has several notable accomplishments on her running résumé, including an NCAA Championship with Colorado and a fifth-place finish at the U.S. Olympic Trials marathon. Needless to say, she isn't going to worry too much about the opinion of anonymous LRC trolls.
She lives a very fulfilled life: owns 2 businesses and doesn't consider running her job. She simply loves it. What's wrong with pursuing a passion?
Why should Tera stop running? Has she personally asked you to fund her? She earned her spot in that field. I wish I could qualify for the elite major fields and if I did, I wouldn't stop until they didn't allow me any longer. Good for her for staying true to her love of running and not quitting when times get tough....and beating the majority of men.

Wasn't she in college like 15 years ago?
are you bitter because you keep getting chicked in the local 5k? Get a life.
