Good question.
I would venture to say that as of now they will say yes. Within 3 months they say no.
Marketing experts say that name recognition is crucial for market success. If that's true, Rio scored huge. Rio was already well known before the Olympics, but now with so much primetime footage of the beaches and mountains, it could be come an even bigger tourist destination.
Brazil needs to lighten up on their visa restrictions to take advantage of the tourist boom. Brazil has been ridiculously strict about visas for Americans out of retaliation for America's tough security standards getting into the US. Brazil doesn't understand that they're shooting themselves in their own foot by tightening restrictions on Americans. Americans have much money to spend there.
