Firs off, Salazar needs to be congratulated as It's a brilliant move by Salazar (assuming it's legal). He's the master of staying a step ahead.
Personally, I don't think giving cooled hats should be allowed. A big part of the race is who can handle the heat. When some runners, but not all, get ghetto form of personalized airconditioning it's not right.
But from reading what people are saying on here, it sounds like others could do it (and probably will in the future). But the line needs to be drawn somewhere. Would it be ok if a personalized air-conditioning drone flew 6 inches in front of a runner's face?
In the past when we've brought up the thyroid and technological aids and asked about them, and Salazar and Co haven't wanted to talk about it, the point we've stressed is, "Look you have long ago made it clear it's not just about running." This just reiterates that point.
In a feature in Wired - what 10 years ago - they were hyping up the underwater treadmill, anti-gravity treadmills, altitude tents, etc. Then Salazar thought it was ridiculous that people wanted to talk about all of that type of stuff.
But actions like these make it so he's almost got to talk about it.
