Ashton in the Deca as well. The competition is trying hard as they can, but are awed spectators. And Bolt, then of course, Semenya.

The whole race Kipchoge seemed about as confident as I've ever seen a marathoner. He talked at various points in the race almost looked bored with the competition. The guy is great.
Well, ten miles in and they were averaging 5:02/mile on a flat course. Just 4 months ago at London, he was averaging 20 seconds per mile faster than that for the entire race. I imagine the first 10 miles on Sunday he felt like yawning, just biding his time.
For your average 3 hour marathoner, that's not just 20 seconds slower than your MP, it's more like 30 seconds slower than your MP because 20 seconds is 7% of 4:42 pace, while 30 seconds is about 7% slower than 3 hour flat marathon pace (6:51/mile).

Herb Elliott, Lasse Viren, Eliud Kipchoge
Herb was clean. Blood doping started in the 70s. Herb had been retired the best part of a decade.
The big gap between a winner and a loser is the mental ability. Clearly you don;'t have it and use doping as an excuse for your short fall.
Athletes are a lot closer physically than mentally. You are likely in the lower echelon of losers.
Not really because at 3 hours you spend a lot more time running. But yes Kipchoge started racing the last 5 miles.

The way you guys cuck for these obvious dopers is sickening.
What is a cuck?
Does it relate to what you paid me to do to your wife?
Anything can happen in the marathon........ except Kipchoge, he's a sure bet.
its very funny if he said this

amphetamines, noob. Possibly opioids too. And no testing.
I don't get it, what did he mean?
Guess: I'm not going yet = I'm not going to leave you in the dust yet?

Going for a coffee. They have really nice beans in Brazil and some of the neighborhoods in Rio are known for awesome cold brew.

It's the slowest Kipchoge has ever ran by more than 3 minutes! Get your fork.
What a shame they didn't let Bekele race....he might have made it more interesting. Of course that could have meant no bronze medal for Rupp.
I'm just curious--what has Bekele every done in a marathon, and what has he run in the last three or four years, that suggests to you he would have been a threat?

Someone didn't watch London this spring.

Eliud opened a slight gap to get water and then told the guys the above. Worth a laugh.
That EPO is a helluva drug. Eliud's 5k PR is proof, never mind his long drive to wrap up the marathon.

WOW, I watched that live when it happened but I forgot how close they was. Holy crap. That was truly a glorious glorious era of mid-d/distance running.
It's so funny that when that happened, I was ridiculously stoked for El G vs Bekele, and then when Kipchoge won it felt so random and like such a letdown that this teenager beat the two legends (how was that possible???). Looking back, it doesn't seem like such a disappointment, that's for sure. What a career he has had.

He accelerated to the water station, as opposed to his acceleration around 30-31k to drop Lilesa, which was a move to win the race.

Now, now. Let's not be hasty and cruel. I think she still deserves respect.
