This was the high point of the Olympics for me. More than Bolt or the 400 WR.
In 2004 it looked like our distance program would never come back. Look at us now!

HE WON THE RACE YOU JEALOUS CUCK!!!!!! LOL
CENTRO WON THE 1500. HE IS THE OLYMPIC CHAMPION!!!!!
CHAMPION
OLYMPIC 1500
It's killing a lot of you jealousy packed LR cucks. Good. If Rupp could pull off the even more impossible and win the jealousy would surpass tonight's unparalleled levels by far. LOLOLOLOLOLOL
I'd like to see any of you out there have the ballz to run an olympic 1500 final in the lead from wire to wire. Centro executed the race plan and dictated the terms of the race. He threw down the hammer when it counted.
I just got off the phone with gerry lindgren here in hawaii and he loved that race. Gerry said those guys in the back the pack deserve to lose for not taking it out and making it an honest race.
Centro is now a part of American History. I can't wait to see the movie. 4th in london by a hair and gold in rio. I'll see you at the movie theater.

What was El G's olympic record again?:)
What????
Kiprop:
Gold after a DQ in 2008
Nothing else. Lost badly this year despite being a strong favourite and faster than everyone on paper by 3/4 seconds.
El G:
Silver in 2000 losing marginally to Noah Ngeny, the world's second best miler of all time, 1000m world record holder, who ran an Olympic record that night of 3:32.
Double gold in 2004, doing the rare 1500/5k double, beating Lagat (3:27 SB) and Bekele who set the 5k world record that year.
No, Guerrouj has two Olympic gold medals.
Kiprop focused entirely on the 1500, against far weaker competition and could not get the job done. In 2012 I'm not sure what happened to him, but this year he has no excuses.
He has never crossed the line in an Olympic final first. He cannot even be in the conversation for GOAT.
No world records, a win by DQ and no medals at his other Olympic appearances. Kiprop's WC record is 3 golds.
El G's is 4 golds and 2 silvers plus another 3 world indoor golds.
Nowhere near the GOAT

I don't think people like you should watch athletics.
If you think times are the most important factor in your enjoyment, and don't care for the tactics and drama of a 1500m Olympic final, then please watch swimming. They all swim in their own lanes with no care for competition and break WRs all the time.
Athletics is not for you.

Oh boy.
Why do these people here act surprised?
I expected great things from Centro.
This was not a surprise to me at all.
I ran some races in high school in the state New York a long time ago... against his father. His father always destroyed me in every race. His father also was the best high school miler in the country and had a high school 1500m time of 3:43.4. He later ran an American record of 13:12.91 in the 5k.
His son Matt is an even faster and better runner than his father…and he has very good finishing speed (e.g. Bernard Lagat and Mo Farah). His last 400m was 50.62. Masback mentioned on TV his recent workout of 8 x 400m in 51sec…with the last one in 49.7.
In conclusion:
Very well done 2016 Flagstaff Olympic Teamâ„¢:
1) Nick Willis- Bronze medal 1500m.
2) Evan Jager- Silver medal 3000m SC.
3) Mo Farah - Gold medal 5000m.
4) Mo Farah- Gold medal 10000m.
5) Matt Centrowitz- Gold medal 1500m.

GO CENTRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I feel more perky now.)

this. If all you understand is WRS and time trials then find another sport. The goal is to win. That's it. There are no style points in athletics. Watch diving or gymnastics or ice skating if you like style.
Run Doctor - you are the most insecure, angry, racebaiting dick on the boards. Go beat up a little old white lady. You'll feel better.
Matthew C = American Exceptionalism!!
Nice to see a Race at the Olympics, instead of a procession.
Great tactics and execution.

YES that WAS terrible. We lost 34 seconds of race coverage, including the 800M mark/split and lots more. They never even gave us the 800M split when they finally returned to "live coverage".
Split screen!!! How many times do they have to be told?!

Isn't part of the entertainment in watching world class athletes the fact that they are able to perform at a level not easily seen? I could go to my state's high school championship meet and be more excited because they are doing something difficult for their age despite running similar times.
This race contained no drama and no tactics. They essentially jogged for 1100m and then sprinted 400m. The only drama possible is someone falling or slight shoving as a result of a bunch of the world's best milers running at the pace of high schoolers.
Tactics would include surges, using teammates to gain an advantage, positioning so that others have to work hard to pass you, etc. Tactics is not mindlessly zoning out for 1100m because there is no fear of being dropped off the pack and then sprinting the last 400m.
I don't care if the race is a little slower if it means that you see a more tactical race. A fast race ending at sub 3:30 or a slower race closer to 3:40 with tactics would both have been exciting; however, a race ending in 3:50, with the most tactical thing being some shoving and positioning yourself at the bell lap, is nothing but an embarrassment to the ability these athletes actually have.
Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy to see Centro take gold. I've waited a long time to see America's mid-distance and distance become good like it is with Centro, Jager, and Rupp performing really well. I'm just disappointed in the fact that many championship races have sunk to this level.
Matt is mixed. Black and white. Just like Eaton Jeter, Obama etc. The superior race
A very respectable mile time......
But, you have to play the hand you're dealt.
A gold medal is forever, congrats to Centro.

I will howl in laughter if they bust him along with the rest of the dopers from OP.
Let's not forget in the past year his coach has some strong evidence supporting his potential doping of athletes.
Oh how things change when a Yank wins.
You are all such hypocrites
Evidence?
I don't think you know what that word means.
No evidence. There was a story. There were allegations. But Goucher and Magness never produced evidence.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.

I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
