Really? Alistair ran 8.30 for his last 2.5k which multiplied by 4 is 34 mins - I know he slowed massive in the last 400m but still.
With the Women's 4X100 relay, the IAAF has ruled...

Jury of Appeal Decision
There will be a re-run for the USA at 8pm local time.
Obstructed at second exchange
Just quoting the commentary.

Correction Canada's 42.70 as both clocked the same time.
He stopped though didn't he, only beat his brother by about 5 seconds when the gap was more like 40.

Eaton locking down the 5.10 on this third PV attempt is a bit of a sigh or relief. Should be at least 100 point gain on Warner. Just has to stay in control from here, as he's be solid on Jav and 1500m.
PV results are making the race for 2nd/3rd interesting!
And of course this was coming...
#CHN, who sits at the 8th spot in the 4x100 final, protests #TeamUSA rerun. #Rio2016 ->

They should get to stand on the track with those pads like they were doing the Gauntlet on Gladiators.

If Eaton matches his personal bests in the jav and 1500, he'll break his own decathlon World Record - 9,045 - by 14 points.

If @AshtonJEaton just hits his SEASON bests in the jav and 1500, he would finish 1 point shy of the Olympic record of 8,893 points.

Eaton will have a big lead after 8 events of the Olympic decathlon with 7,370 points.

Eaton finishes at 5.20, good for 972pts (Warner hits 4.80 for 819pts). Hopefully he'll beat Sebrle's Olympic record (8893 from Athens).
To clear 9000pts he needs to basically hit both his Jav and 1500 PRs. After his PV score, he would be about 9020 if her threw 66m and ran 4:15 for 1500m. Should be a good finish!
I think the decathlon Olympic record is in danger. World record, very very slim possibility, he has not been challenging many of his personal bests in this competition.

These calculations are correct, I messed up the Jav score if he threw his PR for my calc above

Yeah, but Mayer of France had a huge 5.40 meter jump and gained 63 points on Ashton. He is only 124 points back. It ain't over.

Yes, should be good on this front as both have similar PB's for Jav and 1500m. Mayer has thrown way better (close to his PR) for the Jav this season, but his 1500m is weak in 2016. Eaton's Jav has been weak, but his 1500m is closer to PB.
Is eaton going to lose?
This would be a huge shock.
What happened that he has been so poor so far?
