I ran a 4-miler today. I activated my iSmoothRun app and ran with my iPhone in a back pocket. I also used a Garmin 225.
The activity profiles are remarkably different. They show the same amount of running time (well, a 2 second difference), however the overall average pace is different by 18 seconds per mile (10:23 vs 10:51) and the distance is different by nearly 1/4 mile! Also, the elevation differences recorded were 93 vs 66 feet of elevation change. This course is largely at sea level, being less than 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean
Why the difference, which is more accurate, and which should I rely upon?
Thanks!
