No kidding....That was nasty looking
absolutely horrible fall- looks like she was in a heap of pain. My heart breaks for her & the NZL runner.
MCL definitely torn. ACL maybe too. Sucks.

No doubt, that looked bad. She finished in 17:10. True olympic spirit. Good job and good health, Abby.
Agreed. When she tried to stand the second time her leg totally buckled.
Only at the Olympics would you see a pro determined to finish after that.
link?
Have seen her go from a HS nobody to a decent HS runner to Dartmouth and beyond, amazing to see her out there but crushed for her after this happening, I guess some people can joke about her going home devastated in a wheelchair
All the best to her.
"She dove! They need to ban diving in track and field! Cheap move!"
Horrible look. It could be ACL rupture.
When you have ACL ruptures, frequently you can -at least- jog, like she did.
She was advanced to the final (along with the girls from NZ (initially responsible for the falls) and Austria (had her leg clipped by NZ chick who then fell taking out Abbey)).
Probably shouldn't run as that knee probably needs surgery.
I don't see how she's going to be able to run after that but hopefully it's possible!
Give her some cortisone, she'll be fine.
But seriously, that's a shame. I'm a big fan of the D.

Wow, how gutsy that was. Made me think of all those soccer P***ies and their flops. Tough as nails, I hope she can come back from this.

Dude I LOVE the D. Can't get enough of it.
And Abbey's okay too.
Abby may ultimately wish that Molly Huddle hadnt given up her spot in the 5000. America certainly does.
