Pierre-ambroise Bosse went all out there. Dude hit the wall 10m too soon, but I really dug that he ran so aggressively.
Great finish for Murphy. The future looks great.

He looked great with like 220m to go. I thought he had a chance to win. Then Mahk daddy kicked it in and I was dreading a Proud Lion victory. Thank god for Rudisha.

If Symmonds had taken his spot in world's last year, Murphy doesn't get to go get that valuable experience. Without Nick Symmonds, the USA has no metal in the 800.
Stop being stupid. Nick had nothing to do with it. Nick also called on Murphy to reject the spot too

Hah, noticed that too! Rudisha is just a really happy guy. Always seems to be in a good mood and seems happy for others as well.
He is a happy guy, his resting/neutral facial expression looks anything but happy. Lol.
Alfred Kipketer was a sacrificial lamb today.
BroJos: Did anyone pick Murphy for a medal? I would think not. Your fortune is once again safe.

Yeah, it's not that he didn't medal, it's that he collapsed so early on the backstretch of the second lap. I would expect something more like Bosse, where he was in position and had a shot, but just lost it down the homestretch.
The young Kipketer pulled his teeth early and he probably was done after the 500. Suicide running by the 19yr old, but one must wonder, was it all planned?
World champ Barber out of the pole vault at 5.65, big surprise, Kendrick inconsistent though still in and we haven't seen Lanvillinie yet.
OMG Murphy! Sub-1:43! Wow! . . . just Wow!
When is the last time USA had two distance medals in one day?
The future is now. Murphy is in his prime years for an 800m runner. Can't really count on athletes running sub 143 or winning Olympic medals.
What was going through Kipketer's mind? Was he sub 35 at 300!?

I did!

Murphy looked like he eased up a bit once he locked the bronze...it looked like he might have been able to pip Mak for silver if he had finished through the line.
Or maybe the bear got him at that point.
It's funny cause NativeSon said we wouldn't medal at any events 800m and up.
And now we have two thanks to Coburn and Murphy.
nobody mentioned how stupid kipketer ran... As soon as I saw him and rudisha putzing around out there at 200 I was like wow, that dude just blew up his race... Glad Murph sat back and took advantage of that situation

So much for that foreigners prediction that the USA would be shut out of all medals from 800 up except the Steeple...
Booyah!
Clayton MF Murphy!
Too bad she doesn't appreciate her incredible talent. Damn shame

Last running event for the night is starting, but the pole vault competition is nowhere near finished.
