My city is now on its 42nd straight day of a dewpoint over 70. The average day has had a dewpoint around 74, its gone as high as 81. Its not like the temp has been low either. There hasn't been a low below 79 in over 20 days.

Which part of the east coast are you in? Some parts have been worse than others.
Not even close. 1977 and 1980 were much worse.

Ugh. Thanks (not) for the reminder...1980's was a brutal summer.

coastal Virginia
They have a word for that.
Summer.
humidity = poor man's altitude
everyone complains about the humidity and heat. If you run everyday, or twice a day every day, it doesn't matter because you still do it regardless.
what city? why are you being coy or evasive?
Hampton, VA
Don't know if it's a record, but it's been really hot too, many days well above 90, like yesterday here in the Boston area. The silver lining though, run through it and it ups your fitness level.
This heat and humidity just kills my motivation.
Same here, dew point 77 degrees right now (I live in SW Florida). Dew point rarely goes below 75 degrees. A few weeks ago, I got lucky and thunderstorms right before my PM runs brought the temperatures down. I finally started running in the AM after running one afternoon in 79 degree dew point (temperature 84 degrees). It was brutal and I had to cut my run short.
I don't remember it being this humid last year, or the year before, and I do feel it's been hotter this year. Maybe the Saharan Dust plays a role. Water is your best friend in this weather.
We set a record the other day. It hasn't been below 70 degrees since 7/1.
Come to the ATL. At least you have a breeze there.

I think the science is mixed on that. Although from personal experience I know the "boost" I get when we get those first few cool days.
