Tonight's men's 400m final should be tremendous with Kirani James, Wayde Van Niekerk, and Lashawn Merrit squaring off.
Last night James and Merritt were in the same semifinal with James getting the best of Merritt 44.02 to 44.21. Machel Cedenio beat Van Niekerk in heat 2, 44.39 to 44.45.
James said it best on the final, "I think it's going to be a good show." He said winning the heat yesterday was important for lane draw while Merritt said he didn't want to run 43.9 yesterday (which is what it would have taken to win his heat).
James also said the attention on the 400 is a good thing, especially fans talking about it: "It’s an honor seeing the message board conversations 'Who has the better technique. Who has the better finish, stuff like that.' As long as we keep generating interest in the sport it’s a win win for everyone."
Now usually when someone talks about running and a message board conversation they mean letsrun but I don't think he was. What forum do you think he was talking about? There isn't a ton of sprint technique talk on here.
