The real problem is the corrupt Kenyan officials who have been taking bribes from Nike. They threw the coach under the bus for an infraction that is less than jaywalking -- for nothing other than show.

What a mess. I know some of you can't tell black people apart but this idiot is 61-YEARS-OLD! No way way he looks like an active athlete so I don't think he would pose as one.
But I agree this is a complete disaster given the unending negative news coming from team Kenya that I can't see how Ferguson Rotich can compete with this hanging over his head. Kenya is being target-tested this Olympics cycle and Rotich was part of this, he's been tested multiple times and he was found eventually. But this looks really bad and he should just pack and go home even if it isn't his fault. Every Kenyan who steps on to the track will do so behind a cloud of suspicion and our pathetic officials are to blame.
On a sadder note, team-morale has to be at an all-time low and I expect it to reflect in the performances. Expect the worst championships results from Kenya since Los Angeles 1984. I'm basically throwing in the towel until our sports authorities get their act together. So unfair to the athletes. Won't be watching, or posting, anymore. I'm done. See you guys next year.

Either:
(a) this was done WITH Rotich's knowledge, which means he has to be banned for 2 years; or
(b) this was done WITHOUT Rotich's knowledge, which means the coach suspects something, or is jeopardising Rotich's future - or god knows what else. This would be very bizarre.
Do you guys know how to read?
"Ferguson is completely confused as to why he would do this but the good news is that he found out straight away and went to the drug-tester and gave them blood and urine samples," said Corstjens.
That wasn't in the thread I read obviously. If you read below, you'll see that 3 threads have been merged.
You know, it is possible to say that without being obnoxious.
Hey Clerk.
You are jumping to crazy, insane, lunatic, psychotic, jibbering idiot, moron, sock-puppet, egregious drivel conspiracy theories…that no rational, sane person would ever read about.
You are not making any sense. The article says that the coach, Mr. Rotich, was trying to catch the doper-cheater-liars. This was also just another non-suspicious coincidence.

http://www.straitstimes.com/sport/china-faces-wada-probe-after-allegations-of-doping-cover-upsIn conclusion:
Mr. Clerk.
You can't tell just by looking... if someone is a doper-cheater-liar.
Do you really think that all Russians are doper-cheater-liars?
http://img.gecce.com/2012/10/03/haber-205206D7.jpgThe correct answer is:
No.
There are always exceptions to any general rule, such as the IAAF technical exception rule EH 8743685794.33 decision... which made a final decision that only 1 very deserving Russian track and field athlete would be able to participate in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
As you can see…it was the correct decision.
OK?
All this fuss over nothing. If Rotich is doping, he will fail the drug test. They caught the coach posing as Rotich which means Rotich supplied a sample. So let's just wait and see the results.
Pictures of John Anzrah and Ferguson Rotich ... resemblance is uncanny.

Now, I'm really done for good.
If the food court actually looked at pics, then there would be a case. But they just scan the ID card to subtract off credits, and don't care who's eating. So it's their own fault that this sort of thing is tempted to happen.
I admit I should have waited to hear more about this story. I thought they should pull Rotich but now I see the context. This is just stupid. We should focus on the Kenya bribe request issue from earlier this week.
On what authority was he "sent home"? Essentially he was a tourist visiting Rio. Was he deported? I don't believe Kenya can force him to do anything or go anywhere. Sure I suppose he could be banished from venues but forced on a plane? How would this work?
Thank you for the corrections. Obviously, I am weak in the head. I'm putting a few cans of soup in the donation bin, so that no Olympic coaches will go have to go hungry. And all of my unopened Flintstones vitamins, too. I don't have the injectable Flintstone vitamins like Aden's athletes, but I'm sure they're worried about their nutrition ever since those Frenchies took them all away.
Can you imagine if Salazar were to be caught trying so blatantly avoid a doping test? Could you imagine if Salazar were caught on tape soliciting a bribe?
It's amazing how little coverage this is getting.
If Rotich was called for a test and didn't take it, isn't that enough to ban him from the Games?
Surely this guy had a wallet with his real ID in it at the time?
I can understand trying to get the free food. Hard to understand that he would then give a sample with an official asking him. But Rotich supposedly went to them and got tested as soon as he heard.
This story reminded me of when Abebe Bikila and other Ethiopian athletes were coached by Leroy Walker(?) of the U.S. before the Rome Olympics. Bikila won the marathon, of course, but one of his teammates was about as good but was tired in the race from running massive mileage just before the marathon, to and from the training camp in Rome, just to save the money for train fare for home.
Just ban the whole of Kenya from competing. Embarrassing.

Use some common sense, he was told to go home or lose his job. Sending him home is just damage control, to show that they are doing something about it. My guess is this was just an attempt to check if they could get away with him passing off as his athlete. If successful, they could comfortably give him a big boost leading up to his event. That explains why he immediately offered to give up his urine and blood when it didn't work. I am positive team Kenya has applied this simple tactic successfully in the past, probably many times. You could guess the people working the testing area are not very bright or super attentive. I am laughing hard at this, can't wait for their explanation, or maybe they'll just not talk about it.

Haha SURELY they didn't actually TRY to pass the coach off as Rotich for drug testing purposes?! That is actually hilarious.
As for people talking about systematic doping in Kenya, no way. Kenya's problems stem from a lack of organisation. This little escapade is case and point. Same problem in Morocco.
Turns out Anzrah is an age cheat. Actually born same year as Ferguson Rotich.

I was thinking the same thing. I think it was cab fare, though.
