Annamiek Van Vleuten was leading downhill descent - right turn - front wheel skid - over handlebars head first into road and small sharp boundary wall
Hit by a car while training almost exactly a year ago
...final destination....
That was bad. Hopefully she's just unconscious. But could be worse for sure.
Newsfeed about the race. Provides updates on the condition of the rider who crashed.
looked really bad.
@GazetteDesSport van vleuten is ok , medical rescue is on the way. #vanvleuten #Olympics

I hope so but I'd rather see it official somewhere.

That means they got a response from her. They need to stabilize/immobilize her and get her in for a full scan. If her neck is okay (no breaks), she still has to deal with major bruises that come from that type of fall -- like whiplash. That is why she needs to be stabilized. Until they can determine her condition.

I'm more concerned with possible paralysis though that would depend on whether or not any of her vertebrae broke. I couldn't tell from the crash. I hope a competent team is able to help her after those idiots dropped the French gymnast while loading him into the ambulance yesterday....
They just said she is ok. Sure didn't look ok...... Hope the announcers are correct
They have competent medical professionals in Rio. They know what to do. Stop worrying about that and focus and your concern for her. Paralyzed or not, she has a long recovery ahead of her. Major neck injuries are not fun.
Quote Chef de Mission Maurits Hendriks: 'Van Vleuten in ambulance, full consciousness' #official
That is something but anxious to hear more.
She's conscious and in an ambulance.

I know but the EMT's need extra training, the local ones. did you see those goofballs drop the French gymnast yesterday???
You don't actually seem concerned about the injured rider. Stop complaining about your personal belief that they "need extra training." They don't.

Wishful thinking

Actually I do. One can show concern for one and be critical of the quality of the medical care. If your mother was being treated by q doctor whose had 17,000 malpractice filings, would you not criticize him? Does your criticism make you not care for your mother???
you have a lot of growing up to do.
