So.....my coach accidentally cut my scholarship to give more money to an incoming freshman and I have no idea what to do.
To give you a rundown of my situation: I'm a junior and a top returner from my d1 team. I have not gotten in any kind of trouble on campus and have a 3.9 GPA (so I gave him no reason to cut my scholarship). to add to the confusion, I'm graduating a year early and am planning to attend grad school for 2 years, so if I red-shirt this year I would have 2 years of eligibility left for grad school. Because of my coaches idiotic negligence, I am highly considering redshirting this year (my final year of undergrad) and using my last 2 years of eligibility elsewhere.
However, even though my coach is incompetent I feel like it would be both dumb and an a**hole move to leave. It would be dumb because the graduate program for what I want to do at the school I am already at is the best of the best. It would be a crappy move because I would be screwing over all of the seniors (and my best friends) who have made me into the runner that I am today. Also, I feel like I owe it to the seniors to stay and give our team the best shot at our highest finish at a conference meet in years for cross country (our team has no depth and me leaving could royally screw them).
Do I leave because I got screwed by my coach or do I stay for the sake of my team? It's a really crappy situation and I wish my coach didn't suck so much. And if your advice is to get him fired, my teammates and I have tried many times and nothing will work. whether your trolling or not, I'm kind of lost in this situation and could use some advice.
