And she posts here. Is she ready to do the big miles, and get as thin as Flanagan.
And Cragg.
120 miles a week in Flagstaff with long tempos.
Are you Kim?

It's crazy to me that a female with a 2:49 PR makes the list as a top American professional runner.
It's an Olympic year, who cares? If you had the chance to run in the elite field of one of the World Majors, would you say "Oh I don't think I'm that fast, no thank you!" Hell no. Good for these ladies. I hope they have a great experience. Personally I'm jealous and happy for them.
Interested to see which of the top females will come in first for Americans? I predict Taylor as first female followed by Huddle and Conley.
Does anyone know why Laura Thweatt, after her great debut last year, isn't going to try it again this fall? I thought she showed a lot of promise in that event, and could rank with Huddle and Conley as a favorite for the top American this year.
Here we go. This is why we can't have nice things and the letsrun boards are mocked by elites and every single female runner. We try to have discussions on running topics and people have to ruin it by making personal attacks. Rojo will you PLEASE delete any comments making personal attacks so we can stick to the topic. These type of people ruined the NYCM discussions in the past before bringing up Alana Hadley every chance they could. It would be great if we could have a serious running board with actual relevant conversations.
No one else is bothered that there are girls who aren't Pros on the list. If you don't like it, don't discuss them, go bully some place else.

Per David Monti, the elite coordinator for the NYC Marathon, Laura is taking a big break after the Trials and won't be running a fall marathon.
No Luke P...I thought he'd make an appearance?
What is your list supposed to prove wineturtle?

who has the better marathon debut: huddle or conley?
u have to think that conley is also pretty strong as the distances get longer.
good to hear ritz is healthy
Ritz will DNF. He is FINISHED. He needs to save himself some DEVASTATION via DNS.

I don't think anyone cares if these people are part of the elite women's start, but it actually looks bad to publish a list of the top Americans that includes someone with a 2:49 PR. Just list the women that are actually going to even remotely be in the running for top American. Like Sara Hall. Everyone knows she'll be about 5th or 6th American at best, but it is not totally embarrassing for the race to have her on a list of "contenders".
Horrible course for "track athletes". Lousy place to debut.
Too tough for Ritz debut. Too tough for Bob Kennedy. Ended Fleshmans running career destroyed Bobby Curtis and Luke Puskedra and Chad Johnson. It has about an 80% failure rate for debut marathoners.
Strictly a pay day for most and not a smart decision for anyone that feels like their future is the marathon.
...American lives matter.

It's fine. The race organizers are making a bet that this will draw additional interest from the types of people the race sponsors want to reach. This is entertainment.
Bingo. I'm surprised this hasn't started to skew this way sooner.

+the US athletes actually have a drug testing system in place. After giving $$$ to Kenyans and Russians caught doping, I'm all for giving it to folks who at least have to pee in a cup every now and then. Microdosing or grey lines or whatever.... at least there's an attempt at clean sport domestically.
This back to late 80s and all of 90s for the men. Back to awful years of US marathoning. At least there is hope on the women's side with Molly Huddle. I think she will be up there with Africans. She has all the tools and grits.
I agree, he's likely to DNF or produce a 2:12.. Career is over, this will be his last significant payday.

The article starts with a list of the elite American men and their PRs, but no accompanying list of the women. Hopefully just an oversight?
