Get rid of the IOC too and stick to world championships for each sport
Get rid of the IOC too and stick to world championships for each sport
I agree.
The only solution is to hold the Real Olympics T&F in the USA every two years, and do away with WC. The other Olympic sports can remain in the Old Olympics. The USA is the only country that doesn't get caught cheating.
yes

There already is a world championships for track. I don't understand what suggestion you are trying to make.

Three years ago it was held in Moscow. All the sport's problems would be solved if it's only major championships were all like that one.

What is it in scrapping the Olympics you don't get.
Yes.
Either kill the Olympics or choose one city (preferably one that's already hosted) and run it there three or four times, then switch.
Olympics is a major waste of funds and resources. Sh*try temporary buildings, etc, are a big part of the problem. Run it in the same place over and over again and it fixes the issues.

The Olympics brings much more fame, money, and attention to the sport than the world championships do. Getting rid of the Olympics would mean getting rid of those beneficial things. What I don't get is how is getting rid of beneficial things going to benefit the athletes or the sport.
Is that really hard to figure out?
The Olympics need to be held in one place from here on out. Just pick Switzerland...they can host the summer and winter Olympics. The weather is usually fairly reasonable and reliable in both the summer and winter. They aren't a horribly corrupt country and can actually afford to hold sporting events.
I actually agree, the modern Olympics has completely crippled Track & Field. After watching the Tour de France this year it is just so apparent that Track & Field is an complete joke of an amateur sport. ZERO money in it unless you are top 1-3 in the world, it's only relevant every 4 years.
Truly sad, T&F needs to move into the modern sports area.
TdF is relevant because the competitors are white males. The Olympics is a carnival of all colors, males, females, trannies, etc. Nobody is interested in that unless it comes in a big package pushed by every media outlet in the whole world. Then it becomes a party. And the most popular "events" are the opening and closing ceremonies.

How is the Olympics preventing track athletes from moving into the modern sports area? It's not hurting or preventing any of the other major sports.
Let's wait until after the ultra-efficient Japanese have their shot at running the Games in 2020. Lots of negative feeling now that Rio looks to have the makings of a giant fubar.

YES! The US is one of the worst offenders of doping but the fans here are too dumb to admit that it is happening.

How? Based on what? How is the Olympics preventing the world championships from currently seeing an increase of fame, money, and attention?

Haha. They aren't? There's a reason the IOC is based in Switzerland.
