Any information about what to look for when deciding on a provider for PRP therapy? I've read several research papers on the subject, etc. but there's a ton of conflicting information (ex. leukocytes help recovery, leukocytes don't help, rbc's are bad in PRP, but rbc's increase the inflammatory response which is the goal of PRP, etc.).
I'm trying to decide between doctors charging $750/shot (for bilateral adductor strains), $800 for initial shot and any additional I may need, and $1225/shot for both sides. The doctor at $1225 uses Harvest for their PRP kit and says to be wary of cheaper injections. I know they have a vested interest but is $800 a price to be wary of? That seems to be the average price for injections and $1225 seems to be more of an outlier.
Dr. Maharam in NYC said $2500 for each injection because his kit separates lymphocytes with the platelets which, he claims, are necessary for the PRP to work but I'm wondering if the higher cost is simply because it's NYC.
Anyway, any information about PRP injections or places to go (I'm in the northeast but can travel if the doctor is much better/cheap enough to make traveling worth it)?
