Ok, this one is for the parents, which I totally get and can appreciate. But does it really cost 18k to go to the Olympics for a few days for the hammer competition?

I can understand that one. They never show the throws on tv, so there is no other way her parents could see her compete. I think she should be raising money to pay a nutritionist to help her with her diet though, her and a lot of other throwers.
Flights to Rio are expensive but can be had for $1500-$1800.
Tons of AirBNBs for under $300 a night.
The LRC crew had better not be spending $18000 for 3 people the entire 12 days of track.
Deanna however is the only athlete I have ever received a hug from in the mixed zone. As a thrower she makes no money (she's still in college) so if people want to give her the money that is up to them. It's a free society thankfully. But if they're going to ask for money do it on
They don't take a cut like Gofundme

They always show them during the distance event breakaways.
It appears she should have asked for more money. Her funding goal of 18K will be easily reached.
If that isn't a Midwest family I don't know what is.
Hopefully she places higher than Kate Murphy did at the Trials.

But that high school girl didn't make the team, yet she wants her massage therapist, personal chef/taster, and neighboring coach funded to Rio? This is getting too much.
I went to Brazil for two weeks for the World Cup. We went to 6 games, took two flights within Brazil, ate out for breakfast and dinner, rented a car for a long drive and spent far less than $9000 a person.

If others are paying, make it memorable baby!!
But seriously ... I don't really have a problem with some of these efforts to get help with paying for stuff .. but I think if you do that, you should go as absolutely bare-bones as possible.

So from that site, she says it costs 4k per person and that's from Canda.
"Flights, accomadation, tickets to the games....it's going to cost about $4000 per person to go. My parents are fortunate enough to afford the trip themselves. However my siblings & aunts need a bit of help. "
Wonder why the others think it costs 9k per person.
This is great though. I was thinking of bagging Rio to save the dough as I thoughted it would cost me about $2,500 (we don't have to pay for tickets and the airbnb on;ly has to be a little bigger for me to go if our other guys are alreayd going) for travel and then maybe 1500 more if i freeze my sperm due to zika. At most 4k. Now I'll ask for 8k on Go Fund Me and make money.
"Help send Rojo to Rio." I'll promise to interview whoever you want if you send me there.
Most of these gofundmes are nothing more than begging
The worst I saw was the wife of PV;er Mike Hollis looking to fund $600 so she can go watch him compete in a few meets in Europe.
$600? You mean to tell you you don't have $600 in your back account to use or you could not save $600 over the last few months to go.
Couldn't agree more. Maybe I should start asking people to pay my utility and grocery bills.
Suckers paying for someone else to vacation on their dime. If you can't afford it, watch at home like everyone else.
Something a little different-

At least you get something here.
Shameless plug-
Alex was our throws coach for a year and was a great guy, very cool to see him make the Olympics.
Rojo you should start a go fund me to send you back to the 3rd grade

Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
