I was really hoping Andrews was going to come through on that last straightaway, but he just isn't in the 3:29-3:32 shape that Centro is in.
Mahk is the dopiest dope that ever doped
El G might have to say something about that, but until Mahk daddy gets caught he's gonna be stacking medals.

It's possible to run both track races and marathons you know
Right, but I mean she wasn't on the tv after a lap ..
I like JMac generally but Yorks was ready to take it out even harder but JMac had to be the one in control at the curve and that slowed it down a bit bc he clearly didn't have it today. Clearly he liked the idea of being the guy to take it out, but when you know Yorks likes to run that way, you've already propositioned him to do so on social media, and he is in the process of doing it, why not settle in for the ride.
A flawless race from start to finish by Mr. Andrews, he could have closed more of the gap to Centro at the end but can't blame him for starting to celebrate before the line with no one anywhere near behind him. He can go lower than 3:34:88 for sure.
And you have to be happy for Blankenship who imo simply threw away 3rd place to Manzano last year by looking around instead of putting all his focus on getting to the line. Hard to root for boneheads, so i hope those incidents are behind him.
But Centro is still the no. 1 man and has a very good shot at bronze in Rio, Robby maybe 5th or 6th in the finals, he looks even better than last year.
Maybe they talked and that was the plan

Where would clayton murphy have finished? I say 3rd
Yeah, great question. Honestly I'd give him 3rd.
The thing to consider though is that he's a much better tactician that Robby is. He would've been better positioned with a lap to go. Yet I think Robby has about 3 seconds on him as far as what they both have in their legs. Would've smashed Blankenship though.
What happened to Centro last year in the WCs? Was he injured? I can't remember the race very well but looked up the results and he didn't do so well.
How have Managoi and the other guys ahead of Centro last year been running this year?
twitter is reporting manzano is protesting the race

Didn't have it today? Sadly, JMac hasn't had it in years. He hasn't run the standard since 2013. He hasn't even come close.

Peaked too soon me thinks. Remember that big PR of 1:44 for 800m in early June and that final 600m in 1:18 at USAs? Also, he ran for the win (1st/2nd place at the bell) at worlds so he faded in the last 200m.
Getting injured this spring might've been a blessing in disguise for him.

Clayton Murphy has major potential for the future, but you're discounting the huge improvement in Robby's tactics this year. He made qualifying look easy and made zero mistakes.
And imo Centro and Robby are the only American men capable of making the 1500m finals in Rio, Murphy made a brilliant choice in choosing the 800m, though imo he's a long shot for the finals there as well.
