Cabral is from CT.
6 of 9 African born ?
Don't leave me out.
Well maybe if the white guys stopped reading LrC for their racing advice (sit and kick, save it, don't lead, etc etc.) they'd have a better shot. Ultimately, they are lazy, they have zero tactics and no ability to kick and that's why they all lost today. Congrats to Lagat Mead and Chelimo!!!
We've always had Africans on our Olympic team, they've always been faster and motivated by the BLM movement!
Basically killed off distance running as an American sport . At least for men.

+1. White guys just don't work hard enough. They'd rather get a white collar job on Wall Street and push papers to make money or train half-ass for a few years before giving up when they encounter harder working runners like Lagat and Chelimo.
Seriously, I can't tell the ARMY guys apart. Did the same guy who made the team in the 10 also make the 5?
Hardly. Things go in cycles, but I do agree that the men's distance races have done little to inspire anyone.
However, if guys really want to pursue the sport as professionals, they need to realize they have to provide a better product. True track fans may appreciate the sit-and-kick strategy, but there are enough of them them to create a market large enough to support them. Boldness may not win every race, but it will attract fans.

What is the official cut-off date for someone's family to have arrived in the U.S. for him to be considered American?
No. Chelimo was 3rd in the 5K. Korir and Kipchirchir went 2-3 in the 10K. Also Bor made the team in the Steeplechase. They are part of the WCAP program, coached by former 10K and marathon Olympian Dan Browne.
Sadly, LRC boards have been taken over by xenophobic and bitter white men who are trying to say Dan Browne is a sell out and that Kenya-born (but AMERICAN citizens!) runners don't belong on our team. Pretty sad and pathetic but that's what I expected from LR.

They have to have been here long enough to be fat and out of shape and have forgotten how to speak another language before they qualify.
White people need to learn that they are not meant to be distance runners on the global stage. They need to switch to the throwing events and Pole Vault.
Simmons coaches them too, especially Bor.

If you can't beat a 41 year old and D team "Kenyans" what chance do you have with A team Kenyans who are in their 20s and some low 30s? Those 6 "Kenyans" met every criteria to run in the trials and make the Olympic team to represent the USA, so shut up and move on to football. Oh, I forgot they have started taking up that too! Just switch to winter sports, they are too scared of the cold.

Or racewalking in which grown men switch hips like ladies.
Thanks, they weren't on my radar. Feeling like an amateur.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
