Seems fishy.
Galen Rupp drops to 13:35 2nd 5k in his 10k performance but can't match it in the 5k.
During 10k Lagat drops out at the winning 5k pace and says he is sick.
Numbers don't add up to me.

This result is more an indightment of your poor talent pool and training systems rather than a great run by Lagat. All the money and facilities you have and a 41 year old Kenyan beats everyone. Time for some soul searching folks.
Legat is one of the greatest running talents. His 13:35 is worth about 13:42 age graded. I think he can go faster.

I choose to believe Bernard is clean until proven otherwise. Like others here, I was screaming in my living room watching the finish of that race. Specifically, I was screaming at the NBC announcers to notice Lagat in that pack of 5 or so runners coming around the final turn. It wasn't until they'd nearly hit the front of the homestretch that they started calling Lagat's name as he started passing runners. I was stunned at his acceleration as he passed them all for the win. And, again like others here, I was laughing and celebrating his win from 2,000 +- miles away. It was a super-cool moment.
And... here's a relevant statistical bit that caught my attention after the Trials conclusion this last weekend. As has been referenced in this thread, Bernard closed his 5K with a sub-53 last lap. Days later, it's the men's 1500 meters... with Matthew Centrowitz running a quick 3:34:09, closing with a 53.95 according to Flo-Track. The final-lap comparison there kind of blew my mind. Well done Bernard... and Matt!
P.S. Where on Earth did Devon Lane come from in the 110 Hurdles? I'm usually pretty up on who the list leaders are in all the events—I missed the NCAAs. I guess I need to pay closer attention. You looked AWESOME in that race Devon! Good luck in Rio!
I can't understand why the competitors continue to underestimate Lagat's speed. The guy is likely the fastest American over 600m that runs 1500m and up. Why wouldn't you push the pace and take some of that kick out of the old guys legs?
