Lagat and El G's 3:26 1500 meter in Athens are suspicious outliers, all things considered. Love Lagat's smile and charisma, but I've never been entirely convinced that he didn't dope when he knew it was the only way to get close to the pharmaceutical magic of the North Africans.

How do the top 3 finishers qualify for the Olympics even when they do not meet the Olympic Standard time? Also, what is the point of an Olympic Standard time if only top 3 in each event go? Shouldn't anyone who meets the Olympic Standard qualify to go to the Olympics?
