No Charles, getting 3rd does not validate wasting 3 years in OTC. Still, great race broseph. You'd have won that race if you were coached by someone like Johnny Gray.

Why would you criticize a guy who has always had enormous talent but wasn't racing to his potential and now has made the Olympic team? That is tremendous. Most would have quit long ago. In fact, many like you are constantly on here urging people to quit if it doesn't work out after a year or two.
Charles Jock, Olympian from the United States. How about that.
Charles is a beast I called it that he'll make the team.. only because he's an alumni from my school but nonetheless don't doubt him he's in great shape
Amazing run, especially seeing him succeed with a switch from his previous go-to of frontrunning 49-50. He came from 10 meters back in the pack!
Let's face it, 1:43 man Berian and fanboy-favorite Murphy were picked by many to win or top three. Very few of you picked Jock for the team.

I gotcha, I like the guy too. But I just hate that he runs with OTC where his talent wasn't properly fostered. Dude was able to solo 1:44-mid high like 4 years ago. Getting 3rd in this race isn't close to his potential.
Jock getting through is a waste of a spot. Got lucky today, won't do anything remotely special at the Olympics. Sowinski or Loxsom or Solomon are all better. Watch Jock just go 52-high, 56 in the 1st round. Not a good racer and not fast enough of a runner. Today doesn't change that.

I picked Jock and Engels to fight it out for DFL!
He beat those runners fair and square. He is now an Olympic athlete and you are just some failed runner who still sadly follows the sport.

How does making the olympics over many other talented not indicate some recent changes that are working in the right direction? If he heads down a good road he can get to 1:43 I bet. The man is not an also ran. He took a couple years to adjust to the pros.
Is Jock the first ever UC Irvine T&F Olympian?
google steve scott
So... whatever happened to Ryan Martin who beat him a few times in college and was 4th at the 2012 Trials?
Jock is back, baby!

Give it up with Sowinski and Loxsom already. Not big meet performers. What makes you think they would do anything in Rio other than squeak by into the semis on time? Jock has a chance to either flame out spectacularly or come up big. I'd rather have that.
Instead let's all jump on the Eric Jenkins bandwagon! Woo!

I totally agree with swaglord. If was still training under his college coach or even with Johnny Gray, I feel he could've won the whole thing.
But I am glad he made it.
