No.
Murphy is the best runner. I called him winning the title over Berian.

So did I - and I also thought Jock had a very good chance.
All Murphy needs to do is learn how to handle going out a bit quicker. He let some of these guys push / cut him off a bit much, like Harris who actually made a bush league move on Murphy. It was good to see Harris fold after that. He could have caused a mess like that stupid beatch Montano in the women's 800.
Berian is going to tank at the games. He will. He can't hit 1:43 after heats, I doubt he'll make the final. As for Murphy, his future is the 1500, but with the way he runs, he can drop to 1:43, high 1:42s eventually. He will end up with a much faster 1500 PR than Centro.
Even pacing is the way to go. Good job Murphy
A 1.8 second slower 2nd 400 isn't even for an 800.
Also Murphy's a cocky ass.
Murphy's style of racing will likely to medal in Rio. Boris' style will falter hard

Just like at world indoors right?
Front-running is favored indoors. Murphy looking more like Ovett/Borza all the time. It was windy in Eugene. Likely in 1:43-low shape right now. Further progression is medal territory.

You mean that same event where Erik Sowinski took third? Not exactly a top quality field. Mind you, no disrespect to Sowinski as he's a good runner, but he just failed to make the US outdoor team by a large margin.

In addition, Rudisha will also employ the same tactic as Berian anyway and Rudisha was outkicked by many people this year at the homestretch. And David Rudisha is perhaps at a better form than Berian anyway.
Boris leads nearly the whole thing, gets edged by .16 and you think the drafting bum who nicked him is better?
Just remember other countries' 800 runners have balls, so someone besides Boris will be there to take it out even faster. Then Boris gets to be the draftin' bum and Murphy gets to elbow his way out of DFL in the last 300m.
Murphy won be .16, hardly 'destroying' the field. He looked amazing, but Boris should have waited just a little longer (appeared to move with 200m remaining). Results might not have been different.

Interesting to watch Isiah Harris intentionally cut Murphy off at about 350 meters in, and then in the homestretch, when his legs started to go, he looked to his right, saw Sowinski and intentionally starts moving farther and farther right pushing Sowinski from the outside of lane 1 all the way to lane 3. Neither guy was going to make the team, but Harris is a douche. Good to see him crumble as Murphy continues to improve and Berian's great story moves forward.

Well, the drafting bum did run the final 200 in a way that Berian never has in any race. lol
In the long run, Murphy has more potential, but will likely stick with the 1500. And then there's a kid named Brazier who will likely be determined to show he's no one-race fluke.
Did you happen to watch the Beijing 2015 m800 final? Didn't go according to your stereotypical script at all.

Boris definitely let off the gas at the end. Murphy was ecstatic with his bitch kick and Boris was laughing at how much it didn't matter.

That's the whole point of being a drafting bum! Yes it works, nothing wrong with it, but it is what it is.
Rudisha can't do the negative split thing again, he gets beat in the stretch now. He will take it out if noone else does, and then Berian will destroy his dreams.

Prize money, fame, bonus money, status, OT champion, and the title of "Burger-Flipper Slayer" are all what Murphy picked up today. It mattered.
Clayton Murphy saved Cap's @ss.
Murphy can win Gold. He is in the mold of Bucher, Borazkovsky, and that German dude that won Gold.
two years ago murphy's 800 PR was like 1:50
