I feel bad for the guy. I was hoping he would be up there in the thick of things.

Easily the least shocking thing that happened in any of the races tonight.
Early in the race I began to wonder what would happen to this board if he managed to make the team.

I was optimistic, but it looks like this is his last hurrah. Will he be able to retain his sponsorship?

I was thinking it'd be a lot like the race: Carnage. It'd start with all sorts of crazy opinions from haters and fans, "He's back! No, seriously, HE'S BACK," to "GF is on the team? That just shows how weak the field is. GF is ON THE TEAM FFS!" After ten or so pages of that, it'd end with volleys of playground level name-calling.
Did I miss anything?

It's amazing he's kept it so far.
He was a good junior & couldn't convert it where it matters.

He was great in high school and had a promising freshman season at OK St- been injury prone ever since. He's never going to compete in Diamond League races or win medals. He is yesterday's news.
Overtrained for most of eight years
Our system ruins a lot of talent
Saw him walking off the track - possibly in tears. Was sad. I doubt he will race again - dude had a good career (hs + collegiate) - he needs to move on.

If his contract has reductions by now he would owe Nike a boat load of money
Yea, he had a really crap race - BUT SO DID A LOT OF OTHER SUPER TALENTED GUYS THAT SAME DAY!!!!! It was hotter than 'F' out there!
Robot Rupp is not fully human, so don't compare.
German can still run in the 27's for certain. If he's not injured, he's still in great shape, so then just rest up, regroup and go at it again and try to dip under this summer/fall after the Games - they'll be plenty of opportunities.

Please we have bene waiting and waiting and waiting for his big performance and it never happens. His entire pro career seems to have been hurt or dbf's
Time to pack it in
3:55 mile indoors at 18, and 13:25 5000m. That is a terrific junior. He would also front-run the NCAA 1500m to win.

I remember NOLA being blazing, even after dark. I'm sure it was warmer that 82*
It's over for German. Mega talent but stuff like this happens.

True

Understated. He was one of the most talented US junior distance runners ever.
