Michael Norman is getting all the publicity, but Noah Lyles is a dark horse to make the team in the 200. He beat Norman last year and has barely raced outdoor in preparation for this meet. Don't be surprised if both him and Norman break 20.

Sounds good Noah
+1
Luke's was gracious to rest and let Norman have the spotlight last week.
Lyles, Hunter, McGorty, Murphy, McArthur, Brandee Johnson, Holloway
Future of the sport coming out of Virginia.
While I wish the HS athletes at the trials well I think there is 1 thing that many people forget. Yes their PB's put them in the mix of the top people, but that PB is either from a one off race or after running rounds where they did not have to go all that hard. Now at the OT's they will have to run close to PB's every round just to advance. How will they hold up?

No, afraid to compete against Norman. Norman smoked him in a 400m, and Norman has a recent better 200m PR of 20.15. Lyles has not run close to last year's 20.18.

Norman has run 20.23 and 20.15 this year, also 20.23 last year. The 20.23 and 20.15 he ran this year did not look like all out efforts. He also ran a 44.9 4x400 relay leg and it didn't look like an all out effort.
Norman beat Josephus over 400m not Noah, and Noah has run a 20.23 this season, .05 off his PB. It should be a pretty close matchup between Lyles and Norman over 200m

How old was high school recordholder (20.13) Roy Martin when he qualified for the Olympic team? Had he just finished his senior year?

Yes, Martin had just finished HS. The American Junior and HS record both belong to Martin. He ran 20.13 twice.

It was 30 years ago and the high school record was set 3 times that weekend at Texas state meet by someone, then by Stanley Kerr then by Martin.
In 1985, the year Martin ran 20.13, Joe DeLoach (TX) ran 20.24.
The TX 1985 State Meet results are here,

Dwayne Evans ran 20.22 in 1976. I think only Martin broke that record in 1985.

I think you are right. I think maybe it was the state meet record for each conference with DeLoach running 20.5 Friday for 4A, then Kerr running 20.4 Saturday for 1A, and then Martin later running 20.0 (20.13 FAT?) for 5A.
The 4th place finisher in Martin's race, Derrick Florence of Galveston Ball, held the 100 meter record at 10.13 for a pretty long time.
If there HSers could just make the finals that is enought for right now. 2020 will be their time to shine.
I do see Norman at USC being the one who ends up being the more successful of the two.
