Difficult one.
Against taking him;
1) he rarely seems to run well in major championships.
2) at this stage of his career he cannot be considered "the future" of UK800 running.
3) very little chance of making the final. Making the 800 final is much harder than making either the 1500 or 5000 final because of restricted numbers in each race. The 800 semis are brutal races.
4) he blew it at the Trials when faced with a relatively simple task - finish in the first two in a not very deep field. Why reward failure with a trip to Rio?
For taking him;
1) he is the best the UK has; we should be represented in a an event where we have such rich tradition.
2) if the first two in the trials have the necessary times then by all means take them and Rimmer. If they don't then there isn't really a question to answer!
3) if he could produce his best in Rio he is a possible finalist - but he would have to be at his absolute best. However, this recent race suggests that he is close to this.
