My thoughts... I'm assuming you are talking about the distance side of track and not overall track team.
NC State (traditionally good XC, solid track, established coaching staff)
Boise State (good place to live/train for distance runner. Ihmels and staff will bring energy to the program)
Iowa State (they only lose out to Boise because of location. Supposedly a new distance emphasis, but Martin likes to mess with everybody's perception.)
Colorado State (distance side is getting strong, but not a great budget. Will always play 2nd fiddle to CU in state)
Furman (good XC. A lot of their kids disappear in track. Solid coaches. Do they care about track? Does RG care about the college kids?)
Illinois State (solid mid-major. Bovee is a good coach and better person.)
Miami (FL) (Not much on the distance/xc side. Only ahead of Richmond because they have track)
Richmond (I think they still have XC, but no track team. Is that correct? The Taylors are good people. Men qualified to NCs a few years back)
