I'm in my late 20s and still have acne on my face, neck, shoulders, back, chest, and arms. It's pretty mild, but I pretty much always have at least one fairly noticeable zit. Actually, most of the normal pimple type stuff has faded over the years, but I still regularly get deep cystic acne, like one or two per month. They appear on my face, chest, back, neck... Pretty much always leave a scar. Even though my mild is overall pretty mild, I actually have a lot of scars since I've been dealing with this for over 15 years now. I never did accutane when I was younger because I was very serious about running and was a national-level competitor, but my competitive days are over. I have been trying a lot of topical stuff the past several years, but it's just not going away. I'm ready to give it a go with accutane. I'm wondering, however, if I will have trouble getting a doc to prescribe it given I generally have a pretty clear face. Depending on timing, I might not even have any seriously noticeable acne on my face during the visit, though I will almost certainly have something large and red somewhere...
How hesitant are docs to prescribe accutane for situations like this? Also, since mine is so mild, would that mean I'd only need to be on it a short time, like 3 months? I'm kind of clueless.
