I'm a master runner just getting back into the game (such that it is) and don't want to decimate my calves and peak too soon!

No one, and I mean literally no one, will care.
That's sort of what I thought. I also lost 15 pounds and no one, literally no one, cared about that either.
My guess is that half the competitors will be wearing HOKA shoes, so don't worry.
Good job with the weight loss and good luck.
Distance spikes work well for pretty much any event on the track, and jumps as well.
The candyass move would be wearing sprint spikes for a distance race

No one, literally no one, wants to see my Master's Body in pics, regardless of the 15 pounds that came off and the decent BMI/leangains.
