The 2015 Ironman world champion took walking breaks. He stopped at water stations to hydrate and cool off. Watch the NBC coverage (on YouTube) to see for yourself.
Absolute proof that taking walking breaks during a marathon is the key to victory.

Out of curiosity checked out the results. Any Ironpeople out there who might be able to explain why when looking at Frodeno's times (one's theat come up when his name is clicked on) it has his bike and run times as fastest of the day, when there are fasted times posted, by legit finishers. But now as I'm typing this, is that referring to his accumulative time to that point? Basically the leader after the bike, and obviously after the run.
I'm glad you people see the proven benefits of taking walk breaks

You only need to hydrate and cool off if you rely on sweating to keep cool, especially if you do it inefficiently.
Gebrselassie from Eritrea showed how to run in the heat with your hands open which allows heat to conduct from your palms to the air, reducing the amount of sweat necessary. The less you sweat, the less water you lose, and the less blood has to be diverted to the skin instead of muscle.
It is also important that when you do sweat, you do it efficiently. It only works when it evaporates directly from your skin to the air. So if you shave your head cleanass bald like Mo Farah, you will stay cooler because the sweat won't absorb into your hair before evaporating.

It took a while but I think I figured out what you are asking.
I think the answer is: the website is wrong. It would not be the first time in the world that ever happened...
