Recently I've begun some research into a good replacement shoe for the Adios Boost 2 which I enjoyed running in and had considerable success with faster training/racing in. The shoe which grabbed my attention was the Takumi-Sen 3, which received a good amount of hype from those who wore it.
The shoe's lighter weight made it perfect for me, as I mainly frequent shorter races between 5-10k and I felt I didn't need as much shoe. However, the shoe's considerably lower drop is a point of concern for me.
The shoes I've been training/racing in being the Adios Boost 2 and Nike Pegasus 31 both have higher drops of of around 10mm, versus the 5-6mm drop of the Takumi-Sen 3.
So the question I'm asking is, will I face any issues moving to this low drop shoe? Previous research has told me that some runners struggle with calf and achilles issues after a dramatic, or even minor drop change.
Further background as far as running goes is that I am a mild(?) heelstriker, however I do not tend to overstride intensely, and I land under center of mass. When I looked into fixing my form I was told that I get my foot down and toe off so quickly the heel strike was inconsequential. As far as build goes I am a slender runner at around 110 pounds(Standing 5'3, yes very short for a male).
I would be thankful for any imput on the subject.
