Welcome to Biology 100 everyone.
Its not Bio 101 to the average American, which is why it made the front page of a national newspaper..
Crazy!!!! What's the next they will come up with? That your sex is determined by your father?
Did you know that all of your cells are derived from one fertilized egg?

Which is completely un related to attributes that infer athletic success.
So did everybody here who is fit also have a fit mother? My brother and I are pretty different. I pack on muscle and fat. He weighs 70 lb less than I do and doesn't seem to gain any weight.

No. You can be a girl or boy. Take your pick.

I know you are being funny, but just so that it doesn't give people the wrong idea: sex is different from girl or boy, sex is biological, boy or girl is choice. So you technically can't choose your sex. Which is why Caster should be competing with the XY's

Don't talk about my mother.
Heh, heh, how's mom these days?
The article doesn't mention anything about endurance.
If the mother determines all the endurance capacity then how come you have spitting images of running with father & son's like Rod & Addison DeHaven, & Olin & Tim Hacker? I can think of some local examples as well.

The answer is that mitochondrial DNA is only a part of the picture of your endurance capacity and although your mother controls that part completely, it is a lie to say she completely controls endurance ability.
