Any suggestions on where to run near the convention center in Dallas?
Any area that has shade or dirt trails?
I will be there next week.

If you have a car - I like White rock lake. It's a 9 mile loop plus more trails plus a great hill if you want to do some hill training (flagpole hill).
If you are just running a few miles Katy trail is cool and there is good eye candy
If you do not have a car - there might be a trail on the trinity River - I am pretty sure there is
The downtown area empties out at night, so you can make a loop of downtown on an exploration type of run.
Q: Where is the best place to run near the Dallas Convention Center?
A: San Diego. Otherwise you risk running in Texas. Gross!
Thanks. I will check it out.
I will keep that in mind. Thanks.
You are not too far from the trinity river levee, crushed gravel up top, dirt roads down below, about as good as it gets near downtown on dirt. Katy trail which is a multi use pavement trail not too far away either.
Trinity river levee really is the best these days but don't park there too early or late or you'll get robbed. You can get there from downtown easier than white Rock lake.
Tried exploring downtown at night. Probably won't do that again after dark. Nothing bad but if I missed a light I had some homeless guy trying to sell dead flowers or other homeless guys stumbling around in some parts made me too aware and could not relax. Probably fine thing to do if you know the area and avoid some sections but not for me. It was reassuring to come across downtown patrol guys in yellow on bikes. I was not too worried but yet enough so I could not just let my mind wander. Got to try chop house. Thumbs up.
Downtown is much better for eating than running
Bumping this post:
Im planning to do a 12 mile tempo while staying in downtown Dallas, will be running at about 6 AM. Looks like my options are Trinity Levee or Katy Trail. I'm wondering which will be better for a tempo run when I don't want to be interrupted having to cross streets. Its hard to tell which is better from Google maps. I don't really care if its gravel or paved. Any help is appreciated.
Catch Katy Trail over by Am Airines Center. From downtown hotel prob 2 mi warmup. Katy Trail is great for tempo. Every qtr mi is marked. 3.5 miles so 7 mi r/t. Cool down back to hotel. ONON
Thanks for the help.
