I've never seen it, although I just happened to notice last night that Bruce Dern, who played Tom Buchanan in the movie, turned eighty this month, and is still running. (For those who don't know, Dern was a 1:55:+ half-miler in high school back in the 1950s, and he's rarely taken a break from the sport since. He says he had a 17-year running streak without missing a day, and had many 4,000-mile years, with a one-week high of 137 miles and a single-run high of 72 miles. He was never very good in the marathon, however, with a best of something like 3:07, which seems strange for a guy with such good middle-distance speed and so much mileage.)
I read the book for the first time in high school like everyone else. Perfect for the late spring-early summer.
The Usual Suspects for me. If you haven't seen it...prepare to have your mind BLOWN.
A little movie called "Tender Mercies" with Robert Duvall.
If I had to be nailed down to just one favorite movie this would be it.

I never finished watching this movie. It was too boring and I turned it off.

A very good choice.
Filmed in Newport RI...love it.
My Blue Heaven, a better choice.
Which one? It's been made four times.
The 1926, 1949, 1974 or 2013 version? Proof Hollywood can't come up with anything new or original.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Gatsby is also my favorite movie. Unlike most cases, the book translated to movie very well. Honestly the movie was probably better.
And I would have been surprised if Dern ran sub 3. He's a pretty big guy. Obviously in great shape, but just too big to run a great thon
It was my favorite movie long ago, but life moves on and you can't keep beating against the current of time trying to recapture the first time you saw a film. If you do, then you miss all the other wondrous films and wonders of life. Fall in love with another movie.
Groundhog Day, with Bill Murray. 10,000+ days waking up to exactly the same calendar date. Almost endless time to become great at running, scoring chicks, knowledge, being a musician, social graces, understanding humanity, ...
