does the school cover the cost and how do you qualify
does the school cover the cost and how do you qualify
DIII nats in what? Track? XC? Riflery?
If you are fast enough to qualify, you already know it. And if you do qualify, NCAA pays for you and your coach. Flight, food, hotel, etc.
For track, you need to be ranked in the top 20 of your respected event. Not sure about the field events, but I assume it is the same as the track events. Then, your travel is paid for by the NCAA typically. Unless you are close enough I believe that your hotel and other costs, such as food, is paid for by your athletic program.
I was the sole qualifier for my school for D3 nationals, and I don't think I paid for anything. We drove to Iowa, stayed at a hotel, and ate out everyday we were down there.
Top 15 guys and 17 ladies indoor, top 12 relays??
top 20 guys and 22 ladies outdoor, top 16 relays
NCAA pays flights and rooms, colleges typically give meal money
what about regional meets?
D3 doesn't have any regional meets - last chance meets are held instead.

If you were the only one to go to nats in d3 how does that work?
Would it really be worth even showing up if you were going to be the only one there?
I was the only person to qualify from my school this past season. The NCAA covers travel costs (and hotel im pretty sure) but you must drive if you're within 500 miles of the championship site. Your school will typically provide meal costs, but that's not a huge issue in xc because there is a banquet the night before for all athletes who qualified. Long story short i didnt have to pay a dime.
