Hey guys, so my summer has officially started and I'm looking for a summer running plan. A little about me, I will be a sophmore in high school next year. I am a 5'9" 130lb 15 year old. My Prs freshman year were:
5k (Xc): 20:56
3200m (Outdoor track): 11:50
1600m (Outdoor track): 5:11
800m (Outdoor track): 2:20
I ran cross country in fall and outdoor track in the spring. I have never ran prior to this year. I really like running alot now and I'm making it my priority of the summer. I want to hit these marks next year:
5k: 17:00
3200: 10:15
1600: 4:40
800: 2:08
I know they all seem like reaches but I have never ran before, and I didn't really focus at all during Xc, and started trying about halfway through track and dropped my mile from 5:38 to 5:11 in a few weeks. My coach tells us to do no summer workouts, and to just use the summer to build a base. He told us to do 25mpw, but I feel that if I want to get much better, that won't be enough. This past week I did 25 miles. I think that my next weeks of summer should be 30,35,40,45,50 (max out at 50 this summer). Then next summer I will do the same except max out at 60. Then my summer going into senior year I would like to max out at 70. What do you guys think?
