For my region in Division I, it turns out to be incredibly stupid. Our region will have a grand total of seven teams, all of which will come from one district site. I'll rarely have anyone good enough that it will matter, but I'm wondering why we had to go away from a system that had worked quite well for the last 30 years. I think it's a solution in search of a problem, but if you work in Ohio schools you come to expect that everyone in Columbus has an IQ < 75.
As far as combining boys & girls enrollment for division alignment, I thought it should have been expanded to swimming and track, the other two individual-based sports that often share coaching (especially at the smallest schools). All of these sports, of course, will be exempt from the new enrollment counting system that will start in a year. Apparently if it doesn't have a ball, it doesn't matter.
