That's because shoe company fat cats don't know sheist. You got all these guys that can't even hit trials times makin bank and meanwhile Alexander is smokin their arses every stankin time he runs them but has to collect pennies off the sidewalk for gas money. This guy beat rupp Torrence and mead last year at THROWDOWN and this year he's beaten every top American except Centro and Blankenship and Andrews. He just hasn't raced em outdoors. To stand out in terms of marketability, you have run 3:36 in the NCAAs and/or win an NCAA title. Post college, 3:36 is worth something, but it is not the type of performance where your phone is ringing off the hook a day latter. Sponsors want athletes who can showcase their brand and for that you need to be a consistent 3:35 per se, be an athlete who can make national teams, run in DL meets, etc. Colby might be better off not accepting a small development contract right away, roll the dice, running a little faster and getting a better deal.

I think you are correct. It is funny tho that the majority of college hot shot milers never make it in the professional world. You never hear from them again. However Colby seems to be the reverse of this. He was fairly unheard of outside of Eugene in college because of all his injuries but made an immediate impact on the post-college pro scene upon graduation.

If I was a shoe company, by now I would have assumed that he has proven that if he would have been healthy at Oregon, he would have been in the mix for an NCAA 1500 title. So knowing that, as well as seeing what he has done since May of last year, why don't you get on that bandwagon and sign him before the Trials while you can get him for less cash?

The 2016 Olympic standard for 800 is 1:45.80. In 2008 it was 1:45 even.

When you look at how many American women (800 thru 10K) have the Olympic standard, the women's trials will be far more entertaining than the men's.

The women's trials will be old school (kinda like 1972; 1st 3 across line).

The 2016 standard is 1:46.00. The 2008 "A" standard was also 1:46.00.

Are we all 100% sure Alexander has no sponsor? I highly doubt it.

If you rank in the top 3 or 4 runners in your particular event going into an Olympic Trials you would assume an athlete would be sponsored by somebody.

If you look at the top PROFESSIONAL performers time-wise for 2016 in each middle distance and distance event they are all sponsored and most are more than likely taken care of very well by their sponsors.

True (Saucony) will not run 1500 at the trials and Murphy will focus on 800. That leaves Alexander as the TOP 1500 GUY for 2016 going into the Trials time-wise and he is not sponsored???

Highly doubt it.

He's not sponsored. He runs in New York Jersey Track Club gear.
